Let Go and Let God.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. ~Proverbs 3: 5-6
So here is a dirty little secret about me. I am a worrier of all things, to the point it makes me a nervous wreak. I worry about everything and everyone. I tend to think the worst is going to happen a lot. I lay awake at night worrying often. I know I shouldn’t, that God has it covered but its just something I really struggle with. I am know as the girl who needs to let go in our family. Lets just say I can be a little bit obsessive about things. Praise the LORD my family loves me through all of my flaws!
But there is something and the only something that helps me during these times of anxiety and worry and that is saying to myself. “Let Go and Let God”. I usually don’t have any control over what I worrying about and even when I do have control the only thing that helps me is to ask God to guide me and give me wisdom. He is the pilot in my life I am the co-pilot. I can make plans till the cows come home. And believe me, I do. I love to make plans and be prepared. I dislike surprises very much. But ultimately God can change our paths so quickly all of those plans our irrelevant. Not that this girl will ever stop doing her best to make plans and figure out what we need to be prepared for. Its just who I am. But in doing to I try to remind myself to keep things in perspective, if things don’t work out as I planned its okay.
Here are a few of my favorite verses about peace and worry.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. ~Psalm 55:22
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s might hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. ~ 1 Peter 5:6-8
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7
Lord please transform me from the inside out to be more like you. Please give me peace and understanding so I may lay all of my worries and anxiety in your hands. In Jesus Name, Amen.
